April 15, 2025
The Westerly Pewaukee officially opened its doors on April 1st, marking a significant milestone as it welcomed its first residents to the vibrant new community. The opening signifies the culmination of years of thoughtful planning and dedication, bringing a fresh perspective to senior living in Wisconsin’s Lake Country.
The arrival of the first residents was met with warm welcomes from The Westerly’s dedicated staff, including Executive Director Mara Henningsen, Community Relations Director Stacy Giddings, and Koru Health President and Founder Andy Lange. The moment was celebrated as a pivotal step in the community’s journey, setting the stage for a new chapter of active and connected living.
Designed by Galbraith Carnahan Architects, and developed by Matters Development, with stunning interiors crafted by o&o Studio, The Westerly is designed to be a light-filled and joyful environment. Its design, inspired by the region's rich history and natural beauty, creates a welcoming atmosphere where residents can truly thrive.
"The design of senior living facilities can have a huge impact on residents’ quality of life," states Galbraith Carnahan Architects, from a recent LinkedIn post.
"Thoughtfully planned spaces, like The Westerly, offer amenities such as a tea room, an indoor pool, a golf simulator, and rooftop terraces—designed to enhance well-being, encourage social interaction, and foster physical health. As architects, we’re not just designing buildings but homes where every individual’s experience is at the center of the conversation. These spaces are built to support mental, physical, and emotional needs, making residents feel empowered and engaged. This is the power of human-centric architecture and design.”
“Opening our doors to our first residents is a momentous occasion,” says Mara Henningsen, Executive Director of The Westerly Pewaukee. “We’ve created a community where residents can feel at home, connected, and empowered to live life to the fullest. Seeing our vision come to life and welcoming our first residents is incredibly rewarding.”
